Our Ministry to Prisoners

Home » Our Ministry to Prisoners

Because most prisoners do not have online access, we offer distance learning courses to inmates through the postal service.

Our coursework focuses on transforming prisoners, teaching them how to make life-lasting changes. Such changes don’t come through programs alone; they come through the life-transforming power of the gospel. Therefore, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the focal point of every course, empowering learners to make changes in their lives that they could not make on their own. Our aim is to see convicted felons transformed into spiritual and moral leaders who can then transform the lives of others both in and out of prison.

Students experience life transformation in many ways:

Scripture Memorization – We require students to memorize Scripture in every course – this ensures that they build their lives on the truth of God’s Word.
A Renewing of the Mind – The repeated exposure to the gospel allows the Holy Spirit to renew, re-educate, and redirect their thoughts and attitudes.
A Firm Theological Foundation for Christian Living – We give them tools to reject their old ways and to build a life surrendered to Christ.
The Cultivation of Character – We hold our students to high moral and ethical standards, promoting character traits essential for godly living.

At Genesis College & Seminary, we believe that every prisoner can change and become the person God created him or her to be.

“I smoked and cussed a lot. I said things and did things I regret. God is changing me. In the College Success Class [at Genesis College] I realized that I was wasting my life away and hurting others. I won’t waste my life or hurt others any longer.”
